Modern And Fresh Home Fall Tour

Hey everyone!

I am excited to be back today, sharing photos of my home, for the modern and fresh home tour series. This month, Lindsay from the White Buffalo Styling Co. and myself are hosting a blogger tour, where every day of the month of October, a new blogger will share her/his home, and their modern take on Fall-time decor! It's going to be great, and I'm really excited to finally share some good photographs for you guys, of my house. Lindsay and I will be be sharing our tours today, so head over to hers after you read this!

As you know, I've been working hard on getting it decorated. It's by no means done, but I have made a good amount of progress since we moved in in June. I've added a little Fall decor here and there. I'm sure I'll be adding some pumpkins in the future, too, but they haven't happened yet! Fall, to me, is about the cozy feel of blankets that you need when you feel that little crisp nip in the air! Candles, smells, and textures. I've added a bit of that to my home for the season, so come on in and let me show ya what I've done...

I got some mums for the front door; something I love to do every Fall. What about you guys? Usually I get yellow, but I bought white this year.

when you come in the front door, and close it, you see this:

 photo IMG_1553_zps56cacaa8.jpg

I added the basket to the little side table recently. I love baskets for texture, and aren't they the perfect fall accessory?! I love that this one has the painted-on stripes. I got it at HomeGoods.

anyway, if you peer to the right of that scene, you will see the living room:

I love layered rugs, and I feel like it's such a cozy feel to create. I especially love my red-toned rug in here, which is worn and ragged. I have lots of blankets in this room, and pillows to snuggle with. The new couch is perfect for that!  (forgive the chair with the ticking stripe draped across. I'm still deciding how I want to upholster it?)

 photo IMG_1565_zpsf11cf59a.jpg

I always love to have a candle burning in the house, but especially in the Fall and Winter. It just evokes a warm feel, and the good smells are a plus!

 photo IMG_1572_zps16e32568.jpg

Right now, I have the an Archipelago candle that I'm burning (the red current scent). It's one of my favorite scents ever. And even though it may be tacky and cheesy, I also love Bath and Body Work's plug in's. I have the "Leaves" scent in my house right now, and it's the perfect fall scent! It's a combo of apple/cinnamon and it's such a nostalgic scent. Mmm.

I also always have candy corn out in the fall! My friend always gives me a bag every year - it's a tradition :)  Thanks, E

The pipe/wood bookshelves that my dad and i built in August are starting to fill in, and I love them more and more every day! (didn't know that was possible. i sound like people sound when they're talking about their kids? Those things were a labor of love :) )

 photo IMG_1573_zps5470516f.jpg

I've found i've been picking up pottery at thrift stores more and more these days (like the piece pictured on the shelves). i love the earthiness of it!

 photo IMG_1574_zpse8506b48.jpg

I just bought that cute black and white Nate Berkus frame at Target. I really love it!

And notice more pottery on this side?! :)

 photo IMG_1571_zpsff4a4443.jpg

that's about it for the living room. onto the kitchen! our floorplan is really open, so creating coziness and warmth is at the top of my priority list. i still need things like curtains, but we're getting there...

This is the little pass-through that leads to the kitchen from the living area:

opposite of the kitchen cabinet area is the dining table/chairs:

again, with the layered rugs!

The fall light bounces in this room so beautifully, and my plants love it.

 photo IMG_1595_zpsffc6c5dc.jpg

a friend made this new table that  is in the kitchen! It will be getting its own post pretty soon here. I really love it - the artistry is amazing! It was supposed to go behind the sofa, but I moved it in here until the new sofa came, and I love it here. Who knows where it will really end up. You can visit Jason's website here for info on his work! I commissioned the piece and was able to select the size/wood/etc. Pretty awesome. I feel fancy.

last, is our bedroom. it's all white, with super tall ceilings. Again, still so much to do in this room, but it is feeling way cozier with the recent addition of our old white sofa up there.

 photo IMG_1541_zps31b97796.jpg

Stay tuned, too, for a post about our new Crane & Canopy bedding which is amazing. And talk about cozy. I feel like our bed is a fancy hotel bed now. It's soooo freaking comfy! It's nuts.

 photo IMG_1550_zps5f428fb1.jpg

Again, I upped the cozy fall feelings with blankets and pillows. I can't get enough of either, it seems?!

I hope you all enjoyed my tour! Stay tuned for these ladies, starting tomorrow!

  15. You have an amazing home Kristen! I'm really loving the layered rug look popping up all over. Where did you get those amazing large jute type rugs? They're fab!

    1. Thank you!! The rugs are from overstock.com! It's my go-to for large jute rugs.

And actally - that's where i uuuusually get them, but I actually got lucky and found the one in the living room from Ross for only $90! Usually I get them for around $300 on overstock. but you have to jump once you find it the first time, because the prices start jumping after you have gone back and looked at them a few times :(

  17. Okay, I am dying to know more about your WE couch. I am thinking of getting the same one, but I am looking for some honest feedback. Is it truly comfortable? Do feathers poke your back or butt? Could you fall asleep on it? Can the cushions be fluffed to have the fabric look more taut or does it always remain relaxed looking?

    ReplyDelete

    1. oo! i'm excited about this, because it took forever for me to decide which one i wanted. we JUST got it in last week. so far, i love it. i was also a little worried about the feathers coming out, like a pillow, but they don't. at least not yet. definitely could sleep on it. my husbands only complaint is it's not super soft, but i like the texture of it. i got the stock color, gravel, but we got the extra long length, so it took TEN weeks to come in. super annoying! as for fluffing, i think it kind of re-stuffs itself after you get up. i have noticed that the long pillow that you sit on sometimes needs a little fluffing in the middle, but it's fine. it does, however, always look pretty "relaxed" but that's the nature of this sofa, and i like that about it :) so far I LOVE IT. i was really stressed about it being perfect, and i love it so far. :)

I love your home! I'm making lots of notes for my own home! Would you mind sharing where you got the marble & wood cutting board (or is it a tray) in your kitchen? I've stalked the internet trying to find something just like that. It's a must need in my life. :)

  31. The living room looks incredible. I love the framed prints and the quirky mix-and-matched chairs. I also like the layered rugs. It makes for a cool blend of textures and colors. Not to mention it makes the worn red rug pop out more with the lighter tan rug bordering it.
