i spend a lot of time "making over" furniture for clients, stores, and to sell. here's a sampling of some of my work! if you are interested in commissioning a piece, i am always open to ideas and commissions! email me at kristen.fountain@gmail.com

this table, which my client purchased from craigslist, as-is, was painted in a black paint. we removed the paint, and i gave it a "Farmhouse Table" look...

dresser, commissioned by a client to replicate the look of jenna lyons' baby nursery dresser (was previously solid white with old hardware...client is purchasing new hardware, and i hope to have a photo of the finished product when that happens!):

pretty white lines drawn on top of charcoal colored paint! love the contrast and crispness:

pieces of a clients' "old" furniture that had seen better days, but i simply painted it black, did a little rub-off technique, and voila! it's got a new look:

kids' table and chairs set. my client had inherited an old table and chairs set from family, and wanted it to match her daughter's new playroom. she gave me a pretty loose "alphabet" theme, and told me to stay with gender neutral colors, so i came up with this!

since there were only two chairs, i did "a" and "z" on them:

the tabletop! so fun...

  4. you are a truly gifted artist. thank you for sharing your work with the world. do you have a studio in your house? or do you use the garage? i've recently started thrifting and painting furniture pieces, but i have no place to store them until I can get to them. it's frustrating! just wondering what everyone else does with theirs.
    thanks again :)

  6. I am redoing my boys room (ages 6 & 11)next week but on a TIGHT BUDGET. I LOVE the"Jenna Lyon's" style dresser you did. Is there anyway to find out where the client purchased the silver/nickel hardware for it? I have to paint 2 dressers, their bunkbed and the room. Any color pallet suggestions? They love blue, but I want to add a POP of color--maybe kelly green? Hum, I just don't know. If you have any ideas, I would LOVe to hear them. By the way...love your blog. THANKS!

  7. silly6- thank you! the pulls are actually towel knobs from pottery barn!

i think kelly green is a great idea, or maybe a chartreusy/lime green! or orange! or marigold yellow!

  8. Seriously? WOW! I better hurry and find them. I just love it. My husband & I want to get their room done soon. It's just so hard to figure out with boys that age. I need it to last quite a while as we enter the "teen years" YIKES! But fun and youthful for the 6 year old. :) We just bought the IKEA Expidit bookshelf in brown/black for a more mature feel. I was going to paint their furniture navy blue, but a dark blue gray might be better? The walls might be a light tan color. Any other ideas? They love Star Wars and have the Satr Wars bed sheets from Pottery Barn and quilts that have navy, tan and a light army green strip in them from PB. It is so neutral I could throw almost any accent color. I just love what yuo have done and would love any color pallet suggestions you could throw my way. Have a great Sunday!!!!
