I was able to enjoy a nice quiet weekend, without too many plans. Of course, I made it busy by building things and taking on some work, but it was nice to just kind of chill.
Here are some shots from my weekend!
Friday, we bought a leaf blower/vacuum. It was long overdue - the leaves have taken over our front and back yards. It was a rather humorous event, figuring it out, but eventually we did (shout out to my friend for helping me with this), and the yard looks a lot better! It was also kind of fun, once we figured it out. I know this photo makes it look like I have a weird peg leg... its the leaf vacuum. It actually sucks the leaves up into that bag, rather than blowing them everywhere. It was pretty cool, and actually more effective than the blowing option, in this instance. It was so nice to be able to blow the leaves off the back deck, though! Much faster than sweeping, which is what I have been doing.
Friday night, Mika weighs his dinner options. He settled on dry cat food. Mmm.
I couldn't resist putting up this one Christmas decoration that I found at TJMaxx. Jordan and I are both ready to put the tree up, but are waiting until Thanksgiving is over. What about you guys? I started out with being annoyed with the early Christmas displays at Lowe's and Target, but now I am ready.
Annnnd, I have finally started working on decorating our bedroom a bit. I am using this photo from pinterest as a loose color guide. I really love all the colors in it.
I also decided to build a headboard this weekend. I built it the same way I built our queen size one at our old house, but I will say that building a king size was more challenging, and if I were doing it over again, I might not attempt it. :( The larger size really was harder! I also went for a different shape this time, which was a little more difficult.
But, I am happy with how it came out. It's a nice medium-gray, and I, once again, used a sheet as my fabric. I was going to do a patterned fabric, but I decided that a non pattern might be nice for me and my inability to stick with one thing for too long. :)
I also bought some new Nate Berkus sheets at Target. They're navy, and have some sort of white print on them that I thought would be nice with the other muted prints going on on my bed right now. Now, I just need a kick of some color! Oh, and new nightstands and lamps. I know the ones in there right now look really small. They will be replaced shortly! I am also going to have those sconces taken down. They drive me nuts!
Last but not least, I saw this cute pillow at Target. Im not sure about the fringe going down through the middle, but it's cute nonetheless!
how was your weekend?!
