Kitchen Inspiration

I'm blogging on a Saturday! Weird.

I have been doing lots of "Pinning" lately, scouring the internet for house inspiration, as we search for our new perfect casa. It's all very exciting! Decorating my house is one of my very very very favorite things to do. When I get "in the zone" on a project, it makes me really happy. I can't wait to get a house, and start decorating and making the space our own. It's going to be so much fun. We are still house-hunting now, but I am assuming most spaces are going to need a little TLC (What is up with builders putting in ugly finishes non-stop? I really hate Travertine tile, and I feel like that is the go-to these days. Give me a white kitchen with cheap white subway tile (or even just a sheetrock wall) over travertine tile any day. Sorry, I just hate it.

I digress! Here are some inspirational images from my Pinterest kitchen board that have been striking me. I see a few common themes...

WHITE. I am 99% sure our kitchen walls will be white or light gray, with white trim, and hardwood floors. I like to bring in lots of color (Always have), but with accessories and removable items (since I tend to change my mind a lot, this seems to be the best bet.) Our kitchen cabinets in this condo are white, and I have loved them all 3 years and am still not tired of them. I just like a white kitchen!

I also really love a big, colorful rug in a kitchen... This is what my kitchen looks like now:

Anyway, Here are some other kitchens I love:

love the brass lights, and the subway tile all the way up the wall. I also really like the exposed chunky wooden shelves.

This kitchen is a little bit of a diversion from all the other ones I've pinned, but I like its warmth. Those shelves are pretty, and I could seem them warming up a more modern interior, especially if we were to buy a MCM ranch or something.

Again, with the wooden shelves and the subway tile. I was on a kick of having dark cabinets, or gray cabinets for a while, but I think I am off of it now. Very trendy and definitely still love it, but I think I really just love plain white. Brass hardware would be a cool feature though, and I'm into the idea of mixing brass/stainless steel finishes.

I want my kitchen to be 50/50 traditional/modern. Actually, I feel like that's sort of how I feel about my whole house. Maybe leaning slightly more towards traditional, but I do like modern touches, straight lines, and clean finishes.

These kitchen chairs are killer.

cute subway tile going to the ceiling again. It's such a great way to add drama, and cheap, too. I also like dark gray or black grout with my tile:

a trend I didn't even realize was a trend in my book before gathering these images was that I love a bright, colorful kitchen stool as a spot of color in a kitchen! I'm pretty sure that I will be doing bright industrial stools in my new kitchen:

this kitchen in general is amazing. I actually really adore the black walls paired with pink stools, and that light fixture is insane.

red's always been my favorite color:

but these pink ones are cute, too!

  1. Such great inspiration! I agree that travertine is ugly, so not for me! Like you, I adore classic subway tile..it's affordable price is just a bonus! I think you need a killim rug in your kitchen, judging by some of the images you pulled here!
