I'm back today with two furniture pieces I completed for a baby girl's nursery last week...here you go!
This piece was an old table, that was a dark wood stain. I painted it white, then hand painted this cute pink and green pattern on top! I can't wait to see this nursery all pulled together - the parents' plans for it were SO cute. All kinds of fun patterns.

this mirror was a sweet find that was also a dark wood stain. It took a couple of coats of oil-based primer to keep that stain from seeping through -- not fun for this painter :)
I do love the way it turned out, and I think it'll be such a unique contribution to the little girl's nursery.
I love how the pale pink sets the green off. That table is so cute! I can't blame you for wanting to keep it :-)

Just did a similar design on the top of a desk (tone on tone yellows for a little less contrast, though) and I'm wondering if you normally do any kind of sealant or topcoat over a painted on design like this, especially when the surface is going to get a lot of use. I'm worried that as I start to use the desk more and more that the paint job will be damaged if there isn't some kind of clear coat on top of it... Otherwise, perhaps I should just have a piece of glass cut to fit over the top & protect it that way... Any advice would be much appreciated!! :-)
