my bedroom is colorful.

Photobucket

trying to make some changes in my bedroom...not big changes, just small things, like some different sheets (if you have a great source for monogrammed sheets - let me know. i like the PBteen sheets, but i don't like the font choices for monogramming. regular pottery barn has great monogram fonts, but their colors don't really inspire me.), and a new rug. also, i'm considering building a headboard, but have been stumped for a while, as to what shape to make it (don't want it to compete with my crazy painted wall behind it).

if you get a chance, please check out the restyling 101 series for today, on stenciling! chock-full of great advice, and stenciling is so popular right now.

  1. Love your room. You could always use a monogram shop. We have one in McDonough that will monogram 3 letters for $10. Super cheap.

Where on earth did you find the chevron throw? I love it.

  2. I agree with mommara--use a monogram/professional embroidery shop. My fave monogrammed sheets are Martha Stewart from Macy's (on sale, of course) that I took to a local monogramming place. They have about 800 (literally) different thread colors and about 100 different fonts. Plus, it only cost about $20 to monogram the flat sheet and two pillowcases!

  3. Definitely buy your own sheets and then have them monogrammed. It's way less expensive and you can pick out the exact sheets you want!

  4. Not sure what shape you should go with, but I think it any black and white pattern would look smashing!

  5. why don't you make the headboard in the same style as the wallpaper motif. You could paint it in the aqua or do a stenciling motif in black filagree or something. love your ikat pillow.

  8. Check out thecompanystore.com for great monogram options. I have used them for years for my own home. They also have a great outlet in La Crosse, WI, if you ever find yourself in that area.

Love your blog and your work! Wish we lived closer so I could contract you for clients. Looking forward to seeing what you do next!

  11. you can always order pbteen sheets and then have them monogrammed at a local screenprinting place. im sure if you went to your local craft/sewing store you could find somebody to do it for cheap.
as for a headboard design, i think you should just either do a regular tufted rectangular orrrr find a metal one so you can still see the design on the wall behind it but still give your bed some weight.
