last week, i did this frame makeover for a client...
she bought this big chalkboard from ballard designs, and wasn't happy with the golden look of the frame:
i just did a couple of coats of simple black paint, then did a dry brush coat of silver metallic.
incase you aren't familiar, dry brush just means to lightly coat your brush in paint, without the brush being wet, or applying much paint to the brush at all, while you are painting. it creates a very thin coat, which is pretty easy to manipulate, and doesn't coat the entire piece you are painting.
