project: second bedroom.

we are finnnally taking care of some business in our house, and painting/organizing/cute-i-fying our second bedroom. we were not using the space very well, and it had just become basically a storage room for all the things we weren't using. not good.

this it what it looked like before we started (terrible):

hah! i probably shouldn't post things like this for the world to see, but, eh, who cares. jordan uses this room as his office, and as you can see, we just keep books and miscellaneous things in here. my closet is also in this room.

we came up with a plan, and got to work on friday. we moved everything out (mika promptly hid under the bed. he can't handle commotion), and got to painting. the wall color is a mixture of two different greys that i had left over from previous projects, and i painted the ceiling a basic flat ceiling white. we are soon going to have all of our ceilings painted white...it makes such a difference! so much brighter. i hate yellow ceilings. HATE. i've said it on here before, but in case you are new - all of the ceilings and walls in our condo were painted the same buttery yellow flat paint...i've slowly painted all rooms except for the hall stairway, which is 2 stories.

once we cleaned it all out, and moved the desk and the file cabinet into the center of the room:

really shows off the yellow glow ;)

jordan was going through an old box of things and found this. he held it up and said "hey, remember when i used to wear this?" heh...

and finally, we painted! i did the ceiling white first, and then jordan did the rolling while i did the cutting-in.

cover up all that gross yellow! this house has scarred me with the color yellow...i'll probably never pick that color for anything again in the future!

and, ta-da! friday night, it was all painted and ready for decorating and organizing.

saturday, jordan's dad came over and helped us hang some shelves...i'll share more about that project later, but here is a photo of them in the room in daylight. the white ceiling makes suuuuch a difference. so much brighter and cleaner-looking.

you can also see a little peek at the bottom of the sofa bed that we bought.

  14. our entire apartment including high vaulted ceilings are all that yellow color! I really liked it when we moved it since most rentals are stark white and this was a nice change. It brigtening everything up but not sure I'd paint and entire home that color if we buy a house someday!

  15. LOVE the paint color! We had one...er..two of those rooms inour house as well. We finally made one into a guest bedroom last summer and the other is a home office that still needs some work. All things in good time. :)
