painted things.

just a few inspirational photos today of painted pieces that i adore! been saving tons o' photos on my computer for clients and for myself...

Photobucket

i love this photo! don't you just adore those blue cabinets with the blue wall? and could anything "pop" more than that black chandelier? might have to use this as inspiration for the chandelier that was given to me!

Photobucket

ahhh! more painted cabinets..this time, in a glossy green! so fresh, and i love it with the black and white striped wallpaper. i had a small entry way painted in black and white stripes at my old apartment, and i wish i had photos of it for you guys. 'twas before the blog days ;)

i found this last photo on a search for a client...

Photobucket
[not sure where this photo is from! sorry, it was a google image search...]

i love the way that nothing really screams "PAINTED FURNITURE" at you, but there are at least a few painted items in the mix. plus, you know i love those grey walls.

two pieces that i am working on this week:

this is a table i'm working on for a client: (legs are off)

Photobucket

and, this little side table that i got last week. i know it's kind of a funny little guy, but it was just too charming for me to pass up:

Photobucket

his drawers have been repaired, and i'm still working on fixing the water-damage up top! repairs are the boring-est! but they must be done.

hopefully i'll have some after shots for you guys tomorrow!

weekend treasures.

hope everyone had a lovely weekend!

it was a weekend full of surprise treasures for me...we were dog-sitting this weekend, and yesterday while i was out taking the pup for a walk, i found this guy on the side of the road:

Photobucket

it reminds me of the chairs that i painted a few weeks ago for a client - i'm excited to make it over! still haven't decided what i'm going to do with it, but i love free sidewalk finds, so i was happy to drag it home with me.

also, my mom found this awesome dresser at a 'redneck yardsale', as she called it, haha...isn't it great? its GINORMOUS. props to the brother again for letting me use his loft as my storage space (like he reads this). by the way, i will be taking furniture commissions, so if anyone sees this and needs a painted dresser, email me before i begin working on it!

Photobucket

12 drawers! crazy! i can see it now as a tv console, bedroom dresser, baby's room changing table/storage space, dining room buffet...the list goes on...can you tell i'm really excited about this guy?

new dresser for sale!

i just completed this dresser project, which i worked on at my sweet baby brother's house (he has an awesome loft with TONS of old, cool brick outside!). david and his roommate let me store and work on this dresser at his house, and we had such a fun photoshoot when it was all said and done!

Photobucket

to top off the cute-factor, my brother had just recently found two homeless kittens on the side of the road, so one of them made the photoshoot too! (don't worry - we did NOT let the kitten actually eat any of this cupcake) my sweet friend elizabeth is an excellent baker, and she made some sweet treats to go in the shot as well. don't they look precious?

Photobucket

the main color of the dresser is charcoal grey, and the approximate measurements are:
60" long, 21" deep, and 31" tall. if you need the exact measurements, please email me at kristen.fountain@gmail.com.

Photobucket

i made up and handpainted this fun, floral pattern on the drawers.

blue bench.

this bench started out solid black, and was painted blue using spray paint (it's actually best to use a latex-based paint, but we worked with what we had!). it was feeling a little too bright, so to tone the whole thing down a few notches, i did a heavy antiquing glaze on it, and now it matches the bedding perfectly, and adds such a soft, custom feel to the room.

vintage window as artwork!

this was a designer commission that i did a few months ago...turning a vintage window into a piece of art.

i went back to talk to my client about some future projects, and was able to snap a few photos of the window i painted hanging in the nursery! my friend jessica (who is a wonderful interior designer here in atlanta) designed this sweet baby nursery for baby cullen, and it is just beautiful. jessica's nurseries always are always playful but not too 'baby', which i think is a hard job to accomplish, but she does flawless work. she always mixes in industrial and 'rough' pieces too, which is so practical when it comes to kids - why don't more people do this!? anyway, i wanted to share a couple of the photos of this nursery completed, and show you guys where the window project finally ended up!

Photobucket

Photobucket
i love the subtle, soft robin's egg blue they used on the ceiling and walls, and the playful detail of the dog book-end. jessica also antiqued the crib a bit, and there is a really cute dresser that didn't make it into any of my shots!

such a sweet room!

summertime candleholders

quite often, i get really bored with my home, and i need a little mix-up of furniture, accessories, or all of the above. soooo, this morning, i decided to mix a little old with a little new, and i stuck these pretty gold taper candles (that i already had from a different project) into these old glass bottles i found on the side of the road, and voila! new candle sticks:

Photobucket

aren't they lovely in a beverly hillbillies sort-of-way? something about the bright gold mixed with the gross old bottles makes me really happy.

Photobucket

oh, and incase you're wondering what that little box with the heart inside is................i don't know either. i got it in austin, texas a few months ago, and i love it. (if you know what it is, now is your cue to chime in)

table and chair makeovers!

this is a project that i completed on monday, and my client (who is the same one from this project!) and i were so happy with the outcome! she and her husband stripped the paint off of this craigslist painted-black table down to wood (but i told them it was ok to leave a little on!), and then i did several treatments on it to obtain the "farmhouse" table look. here is a "before" shot of the table:

Photobucket

and here is a "before" shot of the chairs: (also scored from craigslist!)

Photobucket

jenny is a photographer (here is her site!), so she sent over these awesome after pics last night and i am SO happy she did...they look like they're out of a magazine! she's going have to take more pictures of my work - she makes me look good. ;)

Photobucket

i did an antiqued white finish on the chairs, and jenny re-covered them in white linen...

hand-painted knobs for sale!

so, earlier this week, when i hand-painted knobs for a client project, i came up with the idea that i might start painting and selling my own knobs! sooo, here i go!

first up, the flower collection:
Photobucket

there are the black and white ones, which are the "daisy knobs"
the burnt orange and cream with antiquing, which are labeled "orange knobs"
and there are the mustard/black/white patterned ones that are "poppy knobs"

i love them all together, as a mix-n-match kind of look, or you can order them in increments of 2's. they are $7 each, and every single one is hand-painted by me, and sealed off with your choice of gloss, flat, or satin finish. these knobs are 1.5 inches in diameter and are made of solid wood. they are also available in 2 inch diameter, for the same price.

next up, is the gray collection:
Photobucket

in the gray collection there are the "vine knobs", which are a gray/cream/white vine pattern, and then there are the "trellis knobs" which are white and gray. again, they are $5 each, and every single one is hand-painted by me, and sealed off with your choice of gloss, flat, or satin finish. these knobs are 1.5 inches in diameter and are made of solid wood. they are also available in 2 inch diameter, for the same price.

finally, there are the kids' knobs (or for those that prefer their knobs whimsical!):
Photobucket

the "circle knobs" are a light green, with blue, pink, yellow and white detailing, and
the "paisley knobs" are pink with pink, coral, green, butter-yellow and white detailing. again, they are $5 each, and every single one is hand-painted by me, and sealed off with your choice of gloss, flat, or satin finish. these knobs are 1.5 inches in diameter and are made of solid wood. they are also available in 2 inch diameter, for the same price.

***

here they are, used as cabinet knobs!
Photobucket

and here as a drawer knobs!
Photobucket

again, they'd be great for nightstands, drawer pulls, to dress up a piece of old furniture that you've painted, as basket pulls, side table drawer knobs, etc, etc!
______

please email me at kristen.fountain@gmail.com to place an order. again, available in increments of 2's only, please!

new dresser!

i did this commission for jenny's baby nursery - for her sweet baby girl - who is due at the end of july! jenny is a wonderful photographer, so i can't wait to get some better shots of this dresser when it makes it upstairs to the baby nursery. anyway, here is the dresser before we began:

Photobucket

the dresser was a hand-me-down that jenny and her husband already had, and she was planning to buy a different one for me to paint, but i convinced her that this one was just fine, and she was happy with the outcome...

here is her crib bedding (isn't it pretty?), which is where i got the inspiration for the knobs, which i hand-painted:

Photobucket

and, here is the result!

crazy kids rooms!

i was searching for a few images this morning for a client, and came across these crazy kids' rooms! now, i know these aren't really my "style", but they are so inspirational and chock full of craziness and so much color and FUN that i had to share them. even though they aren't something i'd create, they are certainly very much appreciated and i give the designer a giant hats off for imagination and creativity.

this one is my favorite:

Photobucket
just look at that ceiling and the crazy furniture in this room...i can't imagine any kid that wouldn't want this for a playroom. and the cabana umbrella with the pom-pom trim? so cute!

Photobucket
i'm guessing some little girl really liked the color pink? what a dreamy room for a little girly girl! i love the chandelier and the pink on pink dresser to the right...

Photobucket
i loooove the oversized knobs on the furniture in this room, and all the fun polka-dot elements!
super cute table and chairs, and will you take a look at the "vines" growing on the curtain valances? so fun!

i couldn't figure out who is responsible for this work from the image search that i did, but whoever it is - great job!

small projects..

here are photos of a couple of small projects i tackled for a client one day last week...

i painted this chair she had that was hunter green into a more neutral antiqued white finish...

Photobucket

Photobucket

and, she bought a cheap-o mirror that i gave a new blue-green finish to...

Photobucket

Photobucket

she actually requested that i finish the mirror in the same finish as my "from the sea" coffee table that i made a few months ago! i love having creative clients :)

furniture for sale!

i have 3 pieces of furniture for sale!

first up, the little chevron table:

i looove this table. it has an industrial feel to it, but the subtle blue and white chevron print are fun and unique!
Photobucket
table top is 20" by 21", and it is 23" tall. it'd be a great nightstand, side table, or accent table.

Photobucket

table top! it's a soft, dusty blue.
Photobucket

next, is this fun little side accent table. measurements are 36" diameter with leaves raised, 20" deep without leaves raised, and 30" tall. it'd be a perfect little breakfast table, work table, console, or side table.

______

*** update: gerber daisy table is sold! thanks, sheila! ***

Photobucket

leaves up!

detail shot:
Photobucket

as always, i handpainted the design on,..

*** edit: sewing table is sold! thanks, alison! ***
last, is this sweet little sewing side table:
Photobucket
Photobucket

Photobucket

i'm not sure of the exact measurements on this one, but it's an old sewing table, so it's about 30 inches tall, probably about 20" by 25" on top!

please email me if you are interested in purchasing any of these three pieces! i can tell you prices, size info, color info, and have more pictures of all items if needed. you can reach me at kristen.fountain@gmail.com. :) all 3 items are shippable, so don't be shy, far-away folks!
