this is a project that i completed on monday, and my client (who is the same one from this project!) and i were so happy with the outcome! she and her husband stripped the paint off of this craigslist painted-black table down to wood (but i told them it was ok to leave a little on!), and then i did several treatments on it to obtain the "farmhouse" table look. here is a "before" shot of the table:
and here is a "before" shot of the chairs: (also scored from craigslist!)
jenny is a photographer (here is her site!), so she sent over these awesome after pics last night and i am SO happy she did...they look like they're out of a magazine! she's going have to take more pictures of my work - she makes me look good. ;)
i did an antiqued white finish on the chairs, and jenny re-covered them in white linen...
You did a gorgeous job, and the two finishes look just beautiful together! Janell
ReplyDeletethank you so much, janell! that means a lot - i LOVE your work! :)
ReplyDeleteYou're amazing! I just stumbled onto your blog and am a huge fan already.
ReplyDeleteSo great!! I LOVE that table!!!
ReplyDeleteI just found your blog from Young House Love and I love it! I see that you do a lot of antique"y" and distressed furniture painting..how exactly do you do that? I mean do you paint it and then bang it up yourself..I need a tutorial on this because I'm a little scared to try it.
ReplyDeletethank you guys!
ReplyDeletepaige - i may be doing a tutorial on this soon, if i can get enough time for it! :)

ReplyDeleteKristen, Love your work! If you were closer to me then I'd commission you to help some of my thrifty finds out. I guess I will have to settle for doing it myself. Can you tell me what you use over the paint? Do you seal it? Also what finish paint do you usually use. Thanks in advance! Sarah :)
ReplyDeleteWOW that looks so beautiful! I love it! What I wouldn't give for talent like yours!

IT LOOKS AMAZING! What an eye you have. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful transformation! Thanks for posting how nice removing paint can look - painting is so popular, it's easy to forget other approaches.

Beautiful table! Your work is beautiful!! Any tips on creating a similiar table finish?? I have a table sanded and ready to go :)
ReplyDeleteHi! I just stumbled across your blog (I can't even remember where from...I got linked here from another site that was featuring this table & chair set). I have a dining room table & chairs that I absolutely HATE. The table is similar to yours, but the chairs have all of this really dated ornate detailing on them that I just don't know what to do with. I'm thinking of ditching the chairs & just finding some like the one you have pictured & refinishing everything. I absoultely LOVE what you've done with yours...it's just gorgeous. I'm a new follower now & I'm loving everything that I see. Keep up the good work!!!
ReplyDeleteClicked over from your last post. I have this EXACT table and I want mine to look like this!!!! But, if this is the same table as mine, I wanna say that the top has a thin vaneer top or something. It doesn't look like its all wood.
ReplyDeleteYou know I'm a DIY'er, but for some reason I don't think I can pull this off! Send me a quote for this same exact makeover. I want mine JUST like this, lol!
