another furniture re-do

i had this client commission an asian-inspired cabinet in december. it took me a while to find a good cabinet, but i finally did, and here it is! she wanted it to be red, reminiscent of this one i did a while back, and to have asian-inspired bamboo on the front. she and her family will be using it as a console to keep shoes in when they walk in the front door. ta-da!

  1. Hi Kristen!

Not sure if you have answered this question elsewhere, so sorry if you have. Where do you get the majority of the furniture you re-do? I'm sure some clients already have the furniture. Do you scour thrift shops or craiglist mostly? And when you craiglist, do you ever go alone to pick up furniture or meet someone in a public place?

Just wondering. My hubby's deployed but I'd love to work on some projects. Only problem is I can't lift very much and feel uncomfortable going to some random craigslister's house alone!

  2. thanks, katy! red's my faaavorite. well, one of them.

as far as where i find my stuff - yes, mostly thrift stores, secondhand stores, through family, yardsales, etc. i have a little shop that i go to frequently in my area as well. i've actually not done the craigslist thing, just because of the hassle that it is..but it is a good idea! i dont' have a truck either, which is annoying, so i am always doing small pieces. hopefully that will change!
