window as art

i just finished this job for a interior designer friend. she is designing a nursery, and had me paint this lewis and sheron fabric pattern into the frames of an old window. the window will hang above the baby's crib as art, and the walls (and ceiling!) are painted a veryyyyyy pale robin's egg blue. it's really cute! i can't wait to see what the window looks like when it's installed...

here is the lewis and sheron pattern that is being used for the drapes (they're really pretty...):

here is the window before i began...
here it is after i painted it...jessica asked me to paint and distress the frame in the mushroom color, and painted the little square patterns inside the glass. i made them slightly un-even so that it would come across as painted, but not so perfect that it just looked like the fabric was glued to the insides. such a fun idea for artwork for a baby's room...
here is the detail shot of the distressed frame...

  1. Ok - that just shows how perfect you are... I had to scroll up and down like 20 times to see that you DIDNT use the fabric hahaha mine would look HORRIBLE... I think I'd stick to gluing the fabric behind hehehe

  2. I love that! I hope you show the whole nursery when it is hung!

  3. i certainly will show photos (of the window hung on the wall) once i get some from the designer!

  4. This is the right blog for anyone who wants to find out about this topic. You realize so much its almost hard to argue with you (not that I actually would want…HaHa). You definitely put a new spin on a topic thats been written about for years. Great stuff, just great!
