goals and ideas and things.

here is a little book (well, magazine) nook in my bedroom:

found these things at a thrift store recently - they were that lovely disgusting dusty blue color, and i painted them white. there is a third one in our bathroom as well. i'm still waiting to find the perfect place for them, but for now, i like them against the dark wall.

i got a white shag rug! i was going to get a giant one for the entire room, but i just decided to go with this smaller 5 by 7 foot one. it feels good on your feetsies, and mika likes snuggling on it. to the left, you can see my ugly bedskirt. i hate it. i either want a smooth, straight one (still trying to find the perfect one. i want one with pattern and a little color..) or a bed that just sits off the ground and looks a lot sleeker. the ruffles drive me nuts when i stare at the room.

today i am painting our nightstands. i loved them as wood, but my refinishing job wasn't so hot, and the stain got a little drippy and built-up in some areas, and it just bothers me. i think i am going to paint them a very pale blue-grey which will match my JA pillow when it comes in, along with tying into our bathroom's wall color. UNITY. i think i am going to paint the inside area below the drawer white. the colors in my bedroom are: chocolate brown, yellow and white. i think one more color will do the trick.

(yes, i read teen vogue. yes, i have a subscription to teen vogue. yes, i eat york peppermint patties before bed.)
see how my stain job is just so drab in this room? blugh! oh, and i switched out the lamps from downstairs to upstairs...i don't think jordan even noticed! these are more feminine, and i think the waviness helps with adding some variety to the space. our bedroom is not done, but it's fun figuring out what needs to be done next...
anyway, i will let you know how my painting adventure goes today...
