cute lil bar

my mom and i found this old bamboo side table at a yard sale for $5 last summer. it was wood, originally, and i primed it then spray painted it pink. to totally set it off, i bought some cute paper at "paper source" and modge-podged it onto the top. i love the way it turned out!

i decided i wanted to make a cute little bar in my dining room with the table, but i don't really drink liquor (other than tequila - bring on the margaritas!), so i was thinking i would have to go out and buy liquor just so my "bar" could be cute. not so, my friends. true to my mother's way of thinking, i decided to rummage through recycling bins in my 'hood until i found a few cute liquor bottles to put on the bar. cleaned 'em and filled 'em with water and now they're cute as can be! a few moments of embarrassment while looking like a homeless person saved me a pretty penny.

the before:
after! (i made those little flag garlands, too!) i really love it, if i do say so myself.

  1. I like this a lot. You are clever.

  2. This is so, so, SO cute, I love it! I'll be on side table look-out now. I predict within a couple of days this makes the rounds of Design Sponge, Apartment Therapy, etc. What a fabulous project! Oh and I'll be linking as well! =)

  3. thanks guys!! :)

it would be lovely if any of those sites showcased my work. it was so much fun...if only i could paint everything in my house pink...i don't think jordan could handle it, though.

  4. I love it! And, congratulations!! I saw you today on Design*Sponge. :)

  5. oh, thank you! i am so excited to be featured in design*sponge, it's my absolute favoroite. she has such a great editing eye. :)
