here goes a little artistic rambling, if you will.
Everyone loves order...everyone loves a home with a nice clean look; put-together, organized, no dirty dishes on the counter, etc. But that's not real life, folks...photoshoots for design magazines always have complete order and balance. There is usually symmetry and smoothness. Anyway, I'm saying all that to say that lately, I really have come to like and appreciate the beauty in real life. I find that disorder and messiness conveys a certain realness that shows you what a person is about; their life and their taste. Beauty in the raw. No make-up, messy-hair, kinda stuff. I love that.
So, when I redid my bedroom, I wanted it to be clutter-free, but real. No fussy decorative pillows on the bed (Jordan was happy about this), and not much clogging up tabletops and ledges. I even sort of love the fact that our tv is a giant black monstrosity sitting on top of a pretty dresser that is completely white and almost dainty. It's a funny balance of style and life that makes me smile.
that, coupled with the fact that I didn't want to spend any money re-doing our bedroom was sort of my inspiration for the look. Clean. Whites/neutrals. Raw. Real.
I'll be back later with info about some of the tricks I did and artwork I sort of made off the cuff for my room.
