I'm Back / Special Nooks

Sorry I've been so MIA the past month...December was way crazy for me - socially, and work-y, so when I had a free moment, I didn't feel like blogging! But I am back, and I have some stuff to talk about! I actually have been writing down blog ideas when they come to me, I just haven't had a moment to post. I have the next FOUR days off (yes!), so I am plan on doing some major relaxing, cleaning, creating and just plain ol' hanging out for the next several hours. Life is good!

Anyway, this is what I wanted to talk about first:

do you have special little "nooks" of places in your house that you find extra special for no good reason? I have several of them. Just little places that you think to yourself that you really like? I have places like that in my home, where something about them is really special, and I'm not sure why! I am going to show you a few: 

This is a little grouping I did on the wall in our hall bathroom. This bathroom is TOTALLY white, which, for me, is weird, but I really loooove it. Actually, nowadays, I have dreams of a totally white house (with shiny white floors!) accented with lots of color (but no color on the walls or floors or ceilings). Anyway, I made this little grouping with "leftover" stuff I had, but I really like it. I think I am going to switch out that canyon picture (found it on the side of the road in someones' trash...someone painted it and got rid of it. You can even see where they once had a cactus in the foreground, but they painted over it. Ha!) with another picture that is similar (and found in the same trashpile), but framed. For kicks, I'm including a photo of the little red display case with all my miniature treasures. 

I love everything in this case. Yes, that is a yarnwrapped pink pig standing on a miniature chair and yes that is a miniature nativity scene. te he he. I love small things; always have, always will. 

Here is a photo of a little vintage toy I found at a junk store...it's in that same bathroom. I love the bright orange/red color of it against the all-white bathroom. I think it's such a cool find, and to make it bathroom-ish, I put those towels on board. 

I may have shown this area before, but here is a little spot in our family room that I love. I think that it has to do with the royal blue on turquoise combo. For some reason, I have a little obsession with color combinations, and this is one of my favorites. 

And, just for the holiday season (I know I've shown pics of this area before), this has become a favorite. I just want to be a tiny little fairy and walk around in this little pine needle and candle and christmas light land....MAGICAL!!!!!:

I got some awesome books for Christmas that I will be posting a bit about later, but for now I just want to say that Jonathan Adler is seriously my decorating soul mate. I guess a lot of people would say that, but seriously, I loooooove all his little mantras and his ideas about style. Sooo very unpretentious and F-U-N.
